Perfect conditions again greeted the annual Andrew Price/Tenby Round Table Soccer Sevens tournament.
Thirty-six teams from around the county and as far as Cardiff, Cwmbran, Newport, Carmarthen, Caerphilly and Swansea, battled for the trophies in three age groups - Under 8s, 10s and 12s.
The format was two pools of six teams, in each age group, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals and the winners of these contesting the finals.
After all the pool games had been played, the four teams through to the Under 8s semi-finals were Clarbeston Road, Carmarthen ADC, Tenby '7' and Tenby '8'.
The first semi-final saw Tenby '8' beat Tenby '7' by two goals to one, while the second semi was won by Carmarthen ADC (who are Cardiff City's Academy Development Centre), who beat Clarbeston Road by five goals to nil.
The exciting final was won by Tenby '8' by four goals to three, in what some described as the best game ever in this age group and the player of the final, chosen by the referee, was Tenby's Alex Wainwright.
The Under 10s tournament was equally as exciting, with Tenby '10', Neyland, Clarbeston Road and Hundleton, all progressing to the semi-finals.
The first semi was between Tenby '10' and Neyland, which saw the home side edge it by two goals to one.
The second semi went to extra-time and the golden goal scenario, before Hundleton got the all-important goal against Clarbeston Road in a very good game.
However, the final of this group was won by Tenby '10', who beat Hundleton, by a single goal.
Even after extra-time and a golden goal period, still a winner could not be produced, so the match went into the player reduction system, where a player from each side is taken off and play continues for two minutes and if no goal is scored, then another player is removed and so on.
When Tenby got their winner, only three players were on the pitch for each team.
The player of this final, again chosen by the referee, was Zak Rowell, of Tenby.
Both the Under 12s semi-finals were very close as well and any two of the four teams could have gone through. However, Haverfordwest County narrowly beat Tenby '12' by one goal to nil, while Johnstown of Carmarthen beat Lamphey by three goals to one.
This final was a very tense affair, but Johnstown just edged Haverfordwest County one-nil and the player of the final was Rhodri Cole from Johnstown, as selected by the referee.
All the trophies, which were sponsored by Andrew Price, were presented to the winners, runners-up and players of the final by Matthew Broadhurst, chairman of Tenby Round Table.
The Tenby Round Table are once again eternally grateful to Andrew Price for his generous sponsorship of the tournament and to Quay West, of Newquay, who sponsored the programmes.
However, no tournament can commence without referees and the Round Table are very grateful to Gareth Warlow, Hugo Wellum, Corry Hill, Blayne Wherrett, George McBeth, Daniel Evans, Lloyd Goforth, Charles Davies, Colin Wherrett and Robert Davies, who donned the black kits.
Extended thanks go Kevin, Teresa, Mel, Janet, Kerry and Chris 'Ramsey' Fairlie, who provided the refreshments, and to the raffle ticket sellers, Mrs. Harries and assistant, who also did an excellent job.
Further thanks also go to those who helped the Round Table prior to and on the day, especially Andrew Williams, Bernard Steer, Andy Davidson, Simon Rowell, Declan Escott, Jeremy Hughes, Scott Ferney, Will Davies, members of Tenby AFC and Round Table and anyone else who may have been forgotten.
