Saturday didn't prove to be the best of days for Narberth in Division One of the Pembrokeshire League after their away clash at Hakin.
With Kilgetty having drawn there 3-3 last week, Nigel Thomas's men would have been confident of getting a similar if not better result, after all, the Vikings are not the force they once were, yet they are still capable of producing a memorable performance and Saturday was it.
The scene was set for their 4-0 win after Narberth went a goal down with just 45 seconds on the clock. Once it went in, they were always behind the eight ball.
Despite having a glut of possession, they could only go into the break 2-0 up, a score that gave Narberth a lifeline.
It didn't come. Hakin scored the third just minutes into the second half and the fourth went in soon after, leaving Bluebirds manager Nigel Thomas to bemoan his team's ineffective display.
"We were awful. Absolutely abysmal and shocking. We were completely out of it. I thought we may have come back in the second half, but once the third went in there was no way back at all."
Narberth did improve for Tuesday's away clash at Monkton, however, as they condemned the Swifts to Division Two by winning 9-0. Star midfielder Justin Blewitt slammed in four goals alongside Richie Adam's hat-trick and Raff Barnett's brace.
Kilgetty didn't fare much better either as they lost 5-0 away at Herbrandston. The visitors may have been four short of their regular first team, but they should still have had enough to get something from the game, especially as their survival in the division isn't totally guaranteed.
Herbie scored twice in the first half, with another three coming after the break, leaving stand-in manager Andrew Cope to admit his team just wasn't up to it on the day.
"We were totally outplayed. They were quicker to the ball, they passed it better and they deserved it. I suppose the scoreline flattered them a little as they scored two late goals, but we were never really in the game and didn't look a threat at all."
Despite Saturday's result, Kilgetty should be safe after winning 3-1 at home to Solva on Tuesday. They romped to victory thanks to goals by Josh and Jack Bevan and a fine strike by Mike Beynon.
Tenby may have lost to Goodwick United in the Senior Cup on penalties, yet they proved the equal of the cup finalists as they drew 1-1 against them at home.
Billy Vaughan, who terrorised the Phoenix Park outfit in the cup clash, was their nemesis again as his goal secured a share of the points.
With seven games left to play, Pendine must win four of them to stay in Division Two next season and they certainly helped their plight following Saturday's 6-4 home win against Camrose.
In a game of high energy, end to end football, the Gulls went 2-1 up at the break following a brace of strikes by Robbie Waters. He added another early in the second, before Paul Langton got in on the act, prior to a Steven Jones goal, yet the visitors didn't go down wondering, despite being 5-2 down.
They came back to trail by a solitary goal, before Waters slammed in his fourth late in the game to guarantee Pendine a lifeline.
"We needed it," said Terrance Langton. "It was a great win for us, but a bit nerve-wracking at times. It was a very exciting game, but we're not out of the woods yet."
Up the road at St Clears and the home side entertained leaders Johnston. Had the Saints won the game and continued their brilliant 2010 form, they would have placed themselves in a good position for a chance at promotion. Yet they went down 1-0, which most probably ends their hopes of a return to top flight football for next season.
Carew's chances of survival were dealt a blow after they lost 1-0 away at Milford United. In a great game of attacking football, the home side fell short, despite having some clear-cut chances.
It could have been so much different for Carew had they not conceded in the last minute, but they made amends for this defeat by drawing 1-1 away at Pendine thanks to a Haydn Shapcott strike in response to a Robbie Waters goal.
Saundersfoot are still in with an outside chance of promotion after they beat Pembroke Boro 5-0 at home on Saturday. The goals were shared around in a dominant display as Ross Gray opened the account before half-time.
Danny Caine advanced their score after the break, before the Sports cut loose with goals from Darren Umanee (his first of the season), Jamie Morgan and Grant Hardy, who scored with his second touch of the match.
Hardy proved to be a super sub as his first touch set up Umanee, his second hit the back of the net, while his third set up Daniel Bates, who missed his chance to score.
On Monday, the Sports defeated high-flying Milford United 4-2 as Morgan added a brace to his tally from Saturday, with Danny Caine doing the same.
In Division Three, a Steve Williamson goal wasn't enough to stop Narberth Seconds going down 3-1 away at their Solva counterparts.
Manorbier United's weekend clash away at Hakin Seconds was postponed as the Vikings failed to raise a side, yet they managed to travel to Pennar on Monday, although they lost 3-2, despite two goals by Mike Ryder.
The Division Four Cup final will be played between St. Florence and Tenby Seconds.
St. Florence beat Prendergast Villa 1-0 thanks to an Ashley Smith strike, while Tenby won an epic against Johnston 4-3.
Tenby were 3-0 down with 30 minutes to go, before Mo Safin reduced the deficit prior to Curtis Hurlow scoring the second. Simon Bolton drew the sides level from a corner, before Gareth Warlow sealed the win in the final minute.
Manager Alun Morgan was understandably delighted with the result.
"We made hard work of it, but it's a fabulous achievement for such a young side. They've beaten us twice this year, so to do it in the cup is fantastic. It should be a good final."
Meanwhile, in Division Five, St. Clears' seconds had to go back to the place where they lost their cup semi-final. Sadly, the same fate befell the travelling Saints, as they lost 2-0 against Letterston.
Kilgetty Seconds took the field on Monday and won 3-0 at home to Fishguard as Duanne Rossiter, Richard Cope and Rob Beynon found the back of the net.
Lawrenny seconds entertained Haverfordwest Cricket Club and won 5-1 as Ben Cole scored first, before Rhys Jenkins, Ian Jenkins, Brad Jenkins and Sam Mills completed the rout.
Seasiders march into final...
Tenby 2nds 4 Johnston 2nds 3
In a comeback reminiscent of Liverpool v Milan in Istanbul in 2005, Tenby 2nds battled back from three-nil down to reach the final of the Fourth Division Cup.
On a beautiful sunny day, Tenby travelled down to Neyland to meet Johnston in the semi-final.
The sides had already met twice in the season, with Tenby winning at Johnston and Johnston winning at Tenby, so the sides were fairly evenly matched.
Tenby 2nds have an extremely young side (apart from Peter Horsley!) and got caught cold in the first 20 minutes of the game, with Johnston taking an early two-goal lead, scoring from two corners.
The rest of the half was fairly evenly matched, with neither side creating any kind of clear chances. Some of the Tenby boys were struggling with the heat and the after-effects of the sixth form party the night before!
The team talk from player-manager Alun Morgan at half-time certainly did the trick and the Tenby boys came out in the second half all guns blazing.
Despite the positive start, they took another setback when a mix-up at the back saw Johnston score their third goal.
This seemed to galvanise the young Tenby side and it was one-way traffic thereafter, with the midfield trio of Jimmy Thomas, Mo Sofan and Morgan taking control of the game.
With 30 minutes to go, inspirational skipper Sofan was put through by Thomas to score the first, Curtis Hurlow then nodded in a fine free-kick from Sofan for the second.
Tenby then hit the bar twice and the Johnston 'keeper pulled off some excellent saves.
With three minutes to go, substitute Simon Bolton knocked in a corner at the far post and then just as the game was heading for extra-time, in the last minute, Gareth Warlow, who had battled hard with his fellow strike partner James Howes throughout the game, scored the winner, sending the travelling supporters into ecstacy.
This was an outstanding performance from a young Tenby side who never gave up. There were excellent performances from Dan Edwards, Tom Nicholas, Mike Lindsay and Adam Brown.
The boys are now looking forward to the final against local rivals St. Florence.
...and so do Saints!
St. Florence 1 Prendergast Villa 0
St. Florence are through to the Division 4 Cup final after narrowly beating Prendergast Villa in a very tight game.
Prendergast seemed to settle into the game quicker and the loss of Steve Lund due to injury certainly didn't help matters for the Saints.
Steve and Colin Batley had made a welcome return to the side, after missing the midweek loss, and the team wish Stevie a speedy recovery and pray they have him back for the final.
The increasingly dependable Jake Clarke came on and as the half progressed, St. Florence began to find their rhythm and had a couple of chances to take the lead just before the half-time break.
Mark McSweeney, serving the last game of his suspension, provided the lime green bananas and knock-off Lucozade (later nicknamed pukozade) at half-time, and encouraged the team to continue the second half as they ended the first.
A large crowd at Narberth saw St. Florence do exactly that and were rewarded early into the second half with another goal from Ashley Smith.
The striker was on hand to head home the opening goal of the game from a Marty Farley corner to give the Saints a crucial 1-0 lead.
Prendergast responded well and had a few chances of their own, but Will Thomas continued his fine form between the sticks and, despite having no gloves for half of the game, was determined not to be beaten.
As the game wore on, things opened up; Scott Smith continued to nutmeg everything in sight, and Barry Wolverson ventured forward on a couple of occasions, desperate to get ahead of fellow defenders Mark Roberts and Ben Blake in the goal-scoring charts!
John Mackie and Jamie Roberts opted to sit a little deeper in midfield and, with both defences playing well, the game ended 1-0, meaning St. Florence will now meet local rivals Tenby in the final.
It was another great all-round team performance, but man-of-the-match has to go to Jake Clarke. Jake's performance on the day was excellent and his attitude all season has been first class.
Team: Will Thomas, Martin Farley, Ben Blake, Barry Wolverson (capt.), Mark Roberts, Steve Lund, Jon Mackie, Jamie Roberts, Colin Batley, Ashley Smith, Scott Smith. Sub: Jake Clarke.
Boswell boys

There will be a unique sporting occurrence tomorrow (Saturday) when the Pembrokeshire Football League hosts its prestigious Senior Cup Final at the New Bridge Meadow in Haverfordwest. The three match officials will be brothers, where 43-year-old Roy will be the man in charge, ably assisted by his elder siblings, Dean and Alan Boswell.
The three brothers hail from the village of Johnston, where they played the majority of their Pembrokeshire League football, with Roy and Dean both appearing in the 1989 Senior Cup Final for the village side against Merlin's Bridge.
The man in the middle, Milford postman Roy Boswell, appeared as an assistant in the 2005 Senior Cup Final and on his big day he will be ably supported by his partner Julie and four children.
He took up the whistle in 1998 following in the footsteps of Alan and now both brothers are regular appointees on the Welsh Football League as well as recognisable faces in their home county.
Despite being the eldest brother, Dean is the least experienced in refereeing terms as he will be officiating in his first final and will look to the experience of Alan to guide him through, as he has refereed the 2008 final and been an assistant in 2004.
Roy stated: "It is everyone's dream when they start out as a referee to reach the pinnacle of being appointed to the local cup final and it is an experience I am relishing. It is made all the more special for me in that both my elder brothers will be assisting me on the day. I am fortunate to be honoured with a game between the two top sides in Pembrokeshire at present, Goodwick United and Merlin's Bridge, and I can promise all three of the Boswell boys will be looking to contribute positively to the spectacle."
The Pembrokeshire League Senior Cup Final kicks-off at 2.30 pm at the New Bridge Meadow stadium, Haverfordwest.
