With the chances of Narberth gaining any silverware this season gone after last week's West Wales Cup defeat, the long run-in to the end of the season can begin.

Of all the teams in the First Division, they have the most games to catch up on as they have only completed 14 games. While this will prove a challenge for Nigel Thomas's men, they can start this quest safe in the knowledge that their position in the division is safe, so they may as well go out and enjoy it.

Enjoyment of sport comes through winning. The more you win, the more you enjoy it, especially if you gain the points away from home as the Bluebirds did on Saturday.

They beat Haverfordwest County 2-1, an excellent result considering the home side are capable of beating any team in the league on their day.

Saturday wasn't their day, however, it was Narberth's, thanks to goals from Jordan Williams and Ade Jones.

Kilgetty, meanwhile, entertained Neyland and after last week's fabulous win over Pennar Robins they would have been hopeful of yet another win to ease their relegation fears.

The win didn't materialise, however, as they went down 3-1. While the defeat doesn't place them back in the relegation zone, they are just hovering above it, and to avoid the potential of a drop back down to Division Two they need to develop some form of consistency.

If it wasn't for a Nick Cope penalty, his third in two weeks, they wouldn't have scored at all as the visitors were in control throughout. Like Narberth, they too will have a tough run in as they are a few games behind, so Norman James has his work cut out to develop the consistency needed to stay in the division.

Tenby's concerns over their attacking flair being scuppered by Prendergast Villa's narrow pitch were misguided as they romped to a 4-0 win over the Haverfordwest based side.

A brace by Tom Merring, followed by goals from Declan Carroll and Alex Harley, were enough to secure the points for the Seasiders in a one-sided encounter.

James Buckle was at it again for Carew as the ace striker knocked in a double to make it six goals in two games for the rapidly improving side.

Despite rising up away from the relegation zone, his brace wasn't enough to secure the points at home to St. Ishmaels as the visitors held them to a 2-2 draw.

Carew's form has been impressive of late and should they keep this up, and there is no reason why they can't, Division Two survival should be guaranteed for next season.

Saundersfoot Sports have been equally impressive this term and they gained a superb 2-1 win away at Hundleton.

With four teams placed above them in the league, it's not inconceivable for them to earn promotion this year, although they will have to maintain their winning ways to do so and secure the fortune of having the teams above them slip up as the end of the season closes in.

Pendine travelled to Milford Athletic and, despite playing a team placed well above them in the league, they gained an admirable draw. The game may have been goalless, but the fact they didn't lose was the most important as they have a relegation fight on their hands.

St. Clears, though, are flying high and produced another fine performance to win 6-1 at home against Pembroke Boro.

The visitors may be at the bottom of the pile in the Second Division, but they are still a tough nut to crack. Colin Reynolds led the scoring with two goals, followed by scores from Eddie Wiggins, Nathan Evans, Andy McCabe and Jason Baxter.

In the semi-final of the Division Three Cup, Narberth Seconds fell agonisingly short of yet another final appearance as they went down 4-3 against Hakin Seconds in an excellent encounter.

Manorbier United are having one of their best seasons in years and their confidence shone through at home to Herbrandston Seconds as they won 3-2.

In an impressive performance, the goals were scored by David Blackwell, Dean Hamilton and Liam Robson.

Lawrenny travelled to Monkton to play their second team and fell agonisingly short as they lost 4-3.

Monkton are a hard, physical team and Neil Jolly's men did well to score three against them as Owen James scored twice alongside Joe Kidney's strike.

Saundersfoot Sports' Seconds are through to the second round of the Division Four Cup after they won their second leg clash 2-0 at home to Camrose.

Carl Wainwright and Scott Davidson's goals earned them a 7-2 aggregate win over the visitors.

Tenby are also through to the next round as they defeated Clarbeston Road reserves 4-2. James Howes scored a deserved hat-trick in the win, while Jimmy Thomas struck home the other.

Back in the league, Carew Seconds lost 4-0 at home to Prendergast Villa, while St. Florence defeated leaders West Dragons 3-1 thanks to goals from Ashley Smith, Mark Roberts and a generous own goal by the visitors.

In Division Five, Lawrenny Seconds lost 3-0 away at Haverfordwest Cricket Club, while Kilgetty's Seconds had an enforced week off as their intended opponents, Fishguard Sports, failed to raise a team.
