There was better news to be had for Pembrokeshire's footballers over the weekend, fewer games were called off than the previous two weeks, although there were more postponements than completed games.
The relentless rain has played havoc with the league and cup programmes and with yet another week decimated by the weather, it means that some teams haven't played for four weeks.
Narberth firsts are a case in point. They've been waiting to play CMB in the West Wales Cup for the best part of a month. Such has been the determination to finish the game that CMB were due to play at Narberth this week, even though they were drawn as the home side for the clash. It's rumoured they were even willing to give the game to the Bluebirds so it wouldn't disrupt their league programme later on in the season. The fact they would have been fined and thrown out of the cup for next season dissuaded them from doing so, but it just goes to show the lengths some teams will go to move their season's along.
They will try again next week of course, much the same as other teams across the region.
Carew fared better though as they were able to travel to Ystradgynlais for their West Wales Cup clash. Despite having not played for a few weeks they soon shook off their rustiness to give the home side a good game before going down 3-2.
They were 2-1 down at the break as a magnificent Brian Hall goal allowed them to reduce the deficit just before the interval.
The ace goal poacher was at it again in the second half to give the scoreline a more respectable look after the homeside had pulled two goals clear early in the second.
"We probably deserved a draw to be honest," said Richard Bullock. "We were all over them in the last ten minutes but just couldn't get that all important goal.
"We may have lost, but it's nice to get the game out of the way. We've missed four league games already so we'll have to make those up at the end of the season so at least we can concentrate on that now."
Meanwhile, although there were more games played, many teams faced another weekend twiddling their thumbs. Narberth seconds were also postponed, so too were the first teams for Kilgetty, St. Clears and Pendine, plus the Seagulls' second team.
There was better news for Tenby in Division One as they travelled to Hakin and recorded a rare win at the Obs.
There's no doubt that Mike Lewis has shaped a decent team at The Clicketts this season and with an envious blend of youth and experience, they now have a team that's able to compete against the best and Hakin certainly fit that category.
In winning 3-1, Tenby have sent down a marker for teams to take notice of them. The win puts them top of the league for the time being and who is to bet against them being there at the end of the season?
"It was very pleasing especially after going one goal down," beamed Lewis.
"We played brilliantly in the second half and could've scored more goals than we did, but to score three there is superb."
The teams were level at the break following a scoreless first half, but Hakin soon pulled ahead in the second.
Daryl Mansbridge drew the visitors level before Dean Rossiter scored to take them ahead. Hakin pushed forward in the search for an equaliser but the only team to score again was Tenby as Mansbridge completed a fine game for him with yet another score.
It may have been a team performance, but Lewis singled out praise for young goal 'keeper Jake Roberts.
"He's 16 years of age and played superbly against a difficult side in what can be an intimidating place to play," he said.
In Division Three, Lamphey kept up their momentum at the top of the table as they defeated Lawrenny 2-0 at home. They scored a goal in each half with the second goal killing any hopes of a Lawrenny come back.
"We pushed them hard at times," said Lawrenny's Neil Jolly. "We kept them quiet for the first 30 and then after they scored in the first but the second goal finished it for us.
"We had a few chances to score, but didn't take them, but I've no complaints really, they were that little bit better on the ball and it showed."
Kilgetty seconds defeated their Hundleton counterparts in Division Five 3-2 thanks to a brace of goals by Nick Cope and a solitary score by Geoff Marsh. The homeside went ahead within four minutes before Marsh pulled one back while the visitors went ahead with the first kick of the second half as Cope scored straight from the kick-off.
Cope scored again to give the visitors a two goal lead before the homeside pulled one back a few minutes before time.
Lamphey seconds were the visitors at St. Clears with the homeside losing 3-2, although the winning goal was somewhat controversial as the homeside believed the Lamphey player was off-side.
The protestations went unnoticed by the referee and the results stands, but the Saints' reserves must feel hard done by as they were the team that took the lead.
Lloyd Evans got the ball rolling in the first half before Lamphey equalised prior to Simon Bancroft netting for the homeside just a minute later.
The lead didn't last long as Lamphey pulled one back just before the break leaving it 2-2 at the interval.
St. Clears gave an edgy performance in the second half as their rustiness from not having played in recent weeks showed.
Although they pushed forward at every opportunity a third goal wasn't forthcoming and it looked as though a draw was likely until Lamphey scored towards the end from a rebounded shot, despite their player being in an off side position.
"We thought he was off side," said Jason Owens. "But the ref thought otherwise and he's the man that counts."
