Next weekend should attract a large amount of local interest as two independent churches, Hesed Christian Fellowship, Tenby and Emmanuel Gospel Church, Manorbier, are holding momentous events.

TEACHING CONFERENCE

On Saturday, September 18, Rev. Peter Richmond will be hosting the second of two festival teaching days. The first of these was presented in April this year at the De Valence Pavilion to an enthusiastic crowd drawn from all over Wales. Entitled 'Appointments with God, part 2', the forthcoming day promises more exciting revelations, as Rev. Richmond, with the help of others, explores the significance of Old Testament autumn festivals to 21st century Christians. The De Valence was not available this time, so the Community Centre in Augustus Place has been booked for the day. No prior knowledge is needed, so don't worry if you missed the first part!

ADULT BAPTISMS

On the following day, Sunday, September 19, there is a special service in Manorbier at 6 pm. Believers in Jesus will be baptised at Emmanuel Gospel Church, declaring their allegiance to God with a powerful visual statement. Christian adult baptism has been practised since the days when Jesus walked on earth. He himself was baptised, and when believers undergo this cleansing ceremony they are symbolising the death and burial of their former Godless life; as they come up out of the water it is a sign of resurrection, and a new life following Jesus. Traditionally it is thought that the Holy Spirit comes down on a person once they have been baptised: it is certainly an exciting event, and as we go to press there are rumours that at least four people are going to be baptised.
