It has been a roller-coaster Lent for St. Mary's Soupermen. Since embarking on a collective sponsored diet, the use of scales and the resulting readings have been a constant source of conversation for the group.
"How much have you lost?", "Oh dear, I've put a pound on!", "I've hit a plateau!"
A common theme was the determination to surpass the target loss of six per cent of the group's total weight. The final weigh-in took place at 4 pm on Easter Sunday. The total weight loss was 197.75 pounds which was 7.46 per cent of the group's original weight. So all in all an excellent effort and some very thin soupermen ready to greet the spring, if it ever comes.
Would those kind sponsors please give their donations to the Soupermen by April 21 so that they can make a donation to PATCH - many thanks in anticipation of a rush of donations.
The next Soupermen venture is a film evening on Friday, April 12, at Church House, at 6.30 pm. The film will be the much acclaimed 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. There will be snacks and liquid refreshment available - all are welcome.
