Tenby councillors have agreed to put forward an application to build a skate park in the town.
Over the past few months, councillors have been seeking a suitable site and also liaising with young skateboarders in the area who have formed a group to put forward ideas and designs of what they would like to see constructed.
Although councillors have hit a few snags with regards to finding suitable land for such a scheme, they have now settled on land at The Salterns for a possible development.
"We've had permission from Pembrokeshire County Council to go forward to try and seek planning for this scheme, so now's the ideal time to be proactive and put the application in and see what happens," Clr. Mike Evans told his colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council.
He explained that a 10 x 25 metre area had been pinpointed for the scheme and that the youngsters who were campaigning for the skate park had been encouraged to draw up various designs and identify the equipment that they wished to see used.
"The skaters will be very excited by this prospect and to see that finally an application is being put forward and progress is being made," added Clr. Evans.
