Members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's development management committee are being requested to undertake a site inspection to see if an area of land is suitable for a proposed civic amenity and recycling centre.
The matter will come up at next Wednesday's meeting of the committee in Pembroke Dock, when National Park planning officers will recommend that members undertake a visit to the proposed application site, which relates to a parcel of land adjoining Brooklands Nursing Home, near New Hedges.
The application submitted by Pembrokeshire County Council - a highly contentious one - proposes the construction of a civic amenity and recycling centre, on a site that at present comprises of a large open area of rough grassland with surrounding area of woodland and other vegetation, to the west of the nursing home.
The scheme involves the provision of a range of waste management facilities to be contained within a central operating area and served by a public access road directly from the A478.
As the application involves a range of material planning considerations and due to its proposed siting and the level of public concern received to date, the authority have stated that it is considered essential that members are fully informed as to the siting of the proposed scheme, its form and potential impacts before making a decision on the application, which is due to be considered at the committee's meeting in June.
