Sita Thomas, of Penally, will be dancing with the Bollywood Brass Band in the Welsh Proms at St. David's Hall, Cardiff, on the evening of Friday, July 10.

The Bollywood Brass Band's four drummers and six horn players play the great tunes and compulsively danceable rhythms of the music from Indian films.

Based in London, the band has performed at the Queen's Hall in Narberth.

Nineteen-year-old former Greenhill School pupil, Sita (pictured) first danced with the band at the BBC Blue Peter Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007, and soon afterwards joined them as a solo dancer at shows throughout the UK and in Norway and Italy.

One of the songs that Sita will be dancing to at the show is Jai Ho from the award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

Sita, currently at university studying English and theatre studies, has further shows lined up with the Bollywood Brass Band this summer in Italy.

She will work with the band again at this year's BBC Proms in London on the afternoon of Sunday, August 16. The band will lead a Proms Family Orchestra Session in Kensington Gardens whilst Sita teaches a Bollywood dance class as part of Indian Voices Day.

Before then, Sita will be working with the National Youth Theatre on the development of a new play called Razia, which the company aims eventually to take to Delhi.

Busy Sita will also be spending time this summer with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-on-Avon on work experience.

Sita is looking forward to the show in Cardiff.

She said: "I love dancing with the Bollywood Brass Band, their live music fills me with joy, energy and inspiration, and it will be fantastic to perform with them at home in Wales."
