Sir,
I realise that this is probably a daft question, but can anyone enlighten me as to the origin of the air-raid siren that I have distinctly heard, at around 5 am, during the last two weeks. Not every night I might add, but on at least two separate occasions.
Are we so close to war that someone is making sure the equipment works, or is there another, more innocuous reason for this unholy row?
It certainly makes a change from the alarm clock, but can I ask whoever is responsible to turn it down, please!
By the way, I know that I am not hearing things, or dreaming, as other people have heard it too.
