A team of fundraisers are embarking on a 216-mile cycling challenge to Tenby this weekend to raise awareness and funds for Pancreatic Cancer Action in memory of ‘much loved’ Paul Manning.

The ‘Sip2Tenby’ - a tribute cycle for Paul who lost his very short battle with pancreatic cancer in February of this year, will be led by his son Stuart.

Paul and his wife Barbara moved down to the Tenby area fin recent years from Manchester, where he lived and worked his entire life.

The couple spent some time living at Kiln Park before setting up home permanently in Carew.

“We enjoyed lots of holidays down here with the family many years ago and me and Paul decicded to move to the Tenby area a couple of years ago,” explained Barbara.

Stuart will be leading the three-day cycling challenge along with his good friends from The Secret Sip in Royton on Sunday, June 3, and due to arrive in Tenby harbour on Tuesday evening.

Paul who sadly passed away on February 8 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, was described as a good friend to many who always went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome.

Barbara and family would like to thank everyone for their support, kind words and all donations made to pancreatic cancer action.

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) focus on improving early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and improving the quality of life for those affected.

Currently there are almost 10,000 people newly diagnosed a year with pancreatic cancer.

They are on a mission to stamp out late detection which is the reason survival rate has remained at between 2-5 per cent for nearly 50 years.
