PEMBROKESHIRE-born singer-songwriter Julia Jones will return from New York to play at Narberth's Queen's Hall with her full band on Saturday, July 31, as the closing event of this year's Civic Week.
Julia, who donated the profits of her debut album '809' to Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, has also been invited by Oakwood Park to perform an acoustic set on their outdoor stage on the afternoon of Friday, July 30.
Oakwood will be stocking the album in their stores this summer as well as donating £500 to Ty Hafan's appeal fund for Julia's performance that day.
Julia worked at Oakwood Park during their opening season in 1986 while studying at Whitland Grammar School.
As well as generating increasing interest surrounding her music, Julia has recently launched a major promotional venture in America, in association with Virgin Megastores, the CMJ college radio network, and XM Satellite Radio, which aims to help raise the profile of British bands.
The initiative is called 'The BritBus Tour' and it has been recognised by the British government's music export committee and the UK Music Industry Associations, as an important marketing initiative for British music in the USA.
Her own contemporary acoustic folk-pop/rock material and live performances have also attracted increasing attention in both the UK and USA since she left her city career in 2002.
Julia is now managed by Paul Rappaport, former VP of Artist Development at Columbia Records in New York.
An extensive tour of Celtic festivals and live music venues in the USA is planned for 2005 to promote Julia's second album, due for release in the spring.
Tickets for the Queen's Hall show can be purchased from the box office on (01834) 861212.
