The 25th anniversary of this RNLI event on Castlemartin Range surpassed all expectations for Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild, raising in excess of £5,000 (writes Daphne Bush).
There are hundreds of people to thank for raising this sum, in gradually deteriorating weather.
Our sponsors, guests and 186 athletes and walkers, attending, some with their dogs, was unbelievable. I hope that the amazing aroma of bacon rolls, hot drinks and home made cakes on site gave some comfort! Even our DJs Keith and Sandra Dixon played throughout. A terrific atmosphere.
Huge thanks to our guests, Ironman athletes and former Welsh Rugby internationals, Shane Williams MBE and his family, Ian Gough, David Jones, of Princes Gate Water, his Daiathlon team, Ironman, Clr. Mark Edwards and Angela Edwards, of Haverfordwest, The Army Defence Training Estates Wales and the British Army at Castlemartin for this unique venue, ensuring safety and planning the route for 25 years.
Thanks to our sponsors, The Old Kings Arms Hotel, Pembroke, and Valero, Pembroke Refinery, for 25 years sponsorship, South Hook LNG, Pembroke Power Station, Upton Farm Foods, Princes Gate Water, Powells Holidays, Radio Pembrokeshire, Sibilla Schleicher MRCVS, our novelty dog show judge, Burnspet, of Kidwelly, for dog show prizes, Alex and Bronwen Rhodes, DJ volunteers Keith and Sandra Dixon, Pembroke Guild members and volunteers, Beryn, Mike, David, Billy, Phil, and Kath.
Your continued support enables the RNLI to provide its free 24/7 coastal, inland and flood rescue service and seasonal lifeguard service in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
