Pembrokeshire County Councillors are urging taxi drivers to silence their horns.

Councillors have been inundated with complaints from residents about taxis sounding their horns while picking up fares.

Now members of the local authority are calling on the county's taxi drivers and private hire vehicle drivers to show some consideration and not use their horns unless it is an emergency.

"Throughout the county, taxi drivers incessantly sound their vehicle's horns outside houses and pubs rather than get out of the car and knock on the front door, or go inside to find the fare," said Clr. Rosalie Lilwall, from Pembroke.

"It's a constant source of irritation to many and can be a real problem when residents have young children.

"I would appeal to drivers to show some consideration to others and not use their horns unless absolutely necessary."
