A key deadline is approaching in a plan to improve the safety of Dyfed-Powys roads.

Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon wants to hear of top class safety ideas before September 9.

Those who submit the best proposals will get a share of £300,000 from Mr. Salmon to develop their ideas and run the schemes.

The Commissioner said: “I want to hear from organisations with great ideas on keeping road users safe across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.

“Too many people die or are seriously hurt on our roads; I want to change that.

“My Road to Safety scheme will see innovative and exciting new road safety projects improve the lives of our communities and their road users.”

The fund will reduce the number of road casualties in local communities.

The Commissioner will make grants to public sector, police force, private sector, voluntary or community organisations and encourages organisations to work together.

A separate smaller budget of £35,000 is earmarked to look at research by academic institutions and partners, with a focus on emerging road safety trends.

Applicants can apply for funding until September 8.
