Sir,
Regarding your article 'Council responds to civic amenity site outcry', August 17 issue, I was somewhat sickened by one of the comment made by County Clr. Rowlands.
He said that some of the areas of the Salterns can only be accessed by climbing up steps, 'so it is particularly unsuitable for older people and the infirm'.
Can you believe that - but it's OK for the council to propose putting a massive centre, containing hazardous waste plus a quarantine area, next to the specialised EMI (elderly mentally infirm) Brooklands Nursing Home, housing 40 old and infirm residents.
Every resident has different needs and they are all catered for. Old people are cared for at Brooklands, people are more important than rubbish, so gain the respect of the community and put your tip where it won't interfere with the elderly.
P. Mills,
Angry relative,
