Sir,

Re. the funding for the new Tenby Cottage Hospital, I would like to put the record straight. £8,000,000 was allocated from the Welsh Assembly for health provision in South Pembrokeshire. Nearly £4,000,000 has been set aside for the upgrading of South Pembs. Hospital, the remainder to be spent on reproviding for the people of south-east Pembrokeshire; to replace a hospital, originally bought by the people of Tenby, and which over the years has been supported and maintained by the people of south-east Pembrokeshire.

Perhaps Mr. David Davies, of Cresselly, would like to include South Pembs. Hospital in his re-appraisal of the money to be spent on health care in this area.

The continual bias by people in authority against the Tenby area results in the complete lack of representation for a large percentage of the population of the county. We have no true representative on either the Health Trust, the new Pembrokeshire Health Board or indeed Pembrokeshire Community Health Council.

It is time the whole procedure of selection for these panels was reviewed, and a more democratic representation be given to the whole of the Pembrokeshire population.

I myself am heartily sick of the prejudice against the people of the Tenby area, not only with regard to health provision, but also from some members of Pembrokeshire County Council.

Please let us put an end to all the petty feelings within the county, and work for the good of the whole population of Pembrokeshire.

Remember that Tenby helps to promote trade and commerce throughout the county.

Mrs. Pat Wright,

Chairman,

League of Friends,

Tenby Cottage Hospital.
