Sir,

I was in your fine town to watch the Wales v Italy rugby game and generally take in the sea air on Saturday. It was whilst in one of the local hostelries that I came upon a copy of the Tenby Observer, and decided to have a quick read prior to the game.

All was well until I came upon your Letters page and found a letter from Mollie Neate that was full of inaccuracies and finished with what can only be described as an intolerable attitude to those who are not in agreement with her pro Assembly views.

The list of achievements she puts down to the WAG would mostly all have been done without any WAG involvement, or did we not build hospitals, leisure centres, schools etc until 1999 when the WAG came into being?

The Millennium Stadium which was built on time, on budget and to spec, was done and dusted before any meddling Assembly members could get their hands on the plans. I'd be willing to bet a month's salary that wouldn't have been the case if they were involved. I'm not normally a betting man, but looking at their track record on everything else they've touched I think my money would be safe.

Finally, and here's the bit that really wound me up, Ms Neate finishes by saying that if Sir Eric Howells is so dissatisfied with the Assembly, he should leave over the Severn Bridge. By the time your readers read this letter, you will have a rough idea of the number of people in Wales who are dissatisfied with the Assembly. Does Ms Neate suggest we should all leave the country? - As I suspect most of us are hard working taxpayers who don't want to see our money wasted, where would that leave our 'special little country'?

Richard Jones,

Swansea.
