THE first-ever competition run by Tenby Writers Group attracted a good entry.
First prize winner was Ann-Ruth Alton, of Tenby, for her story 'Crinoline Lady' which she read to an appreciative audience at the Pam Pam during the interval at Wybert Bendall's performance on September 25.
Her story, set in Tenby, was the unanimous choice of judges Arthur Ormond, Rosie Swale Pope and Keith Johnson.
Second was 'Timothy' by Ron Waters, of Neyland, and third prize went to 'A prayer for Mr. Snoddy' written by Tim O'Connell, who lives in Kilgetty.
Audrey Petersen's 'Winter' took the poetry prize, with Rosie Swale Pope's personal award going to Ron Waters for 'Timothy'.
Tenby Writers Group are pleased with the results of their first competition. They point out that Pembrokeshire has its fair share of talented amateur writers whose work deserves a wider audience. A decision has not yet been made, but the group have been urged to 'do it again' next year.
