The Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Association season (sponsored by Hyundai) kicked off on Monday, September 8, with Tabernacle beating last year's runners up Penally. The final score was 6-2 to Tabernacle, with Michael Townley overcoming Tom Aston in the singles eight points to five.

Merlins Bridge held their own away at Narberth, with the final score a draw at four-all. However, Narberth had an excellent result in the triples, where they won 16-3.

Also this week, Crundale were overwhelmed by Tavernspite at Crundale, with the visitors winning 6-2. There were good results for the Tavernspite team in both the singles and the rinks.

Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Association has a new fixture secretary this year and all teams are asked to print players' name clearly and send in their results as soon as possible after each match to Emma Peters, whose address is in the fixture booklet.

The Main League started on Monday, with last year's winners, Penally, facing Hook at home and Tabernacle visiting Freystrop.
