Tomorrow (Saturday), the ASDA store at Pembroke Dock will be launching the Big Recycle event which encourages shoppers to start making more visits to the store's recycling centre and to make it a regular part of the weekly shopping trip. Colleagues will be joining all other 279 ASDA stores across the country in encouraging more shoppers to recycle. As part of ASDA's recycle event, the supermarket is looking for children aged between four and 11 years to create a creature out of recycled material - bring your photos of your recycled creatures into store before Saturday, July 30, to be entered into a prize draw. Each year in the UK we use and dispose of 15 billion carrier bags. ASDA will also be doing their own big recycle bag challenge by trying to recycle over 283 million carrier bags in a week. Also, packaging waste makes up about a quarter of all of the rubbish you put in your bin, which could be recycled. Steve Cuggy general store manager said: "It's really important that we encourage our colleagues and customers to recycle. We're urging customers just to take the time to separate their rubbish and bring it to ASDA as part of their shopping trip!"
