Saundersfoot has been shocked this week by the sudden closure of one its popular pubs - The Captain's Table.

A notice on the door of the pub says: "We regret to inform you that the business has ceased trading with effect from December 8. The pub will unfortunately be closed for the foreseeable future until new owners are found."

A second letter from Richard Hicken, supervisor, of Grant Thornton UK, based in Bristol, a recovery and reorganisation company, explained that the partnership which owned the pub had got into financial difficulties and necessary for it to cease trading at the pub.

The letter said the partnership was no longer in a position to make payments to creditors and gave details for creditors to send their outstanding claims. Solicitors have been instructed to place the partnership into liquidation.
