Over the years, a large number of Tenby cadets have enjoyed a day on board, entertained by the crew when the ship visited Plymouth, Cardiff or Newport. Some of the Tenby Sea Cadets and staff were lucky enough to spend some days at sea when the ship was sailing in UK waters.
Tenby Unit had been planning another trip to HMS Monmouth at Plymouth later this month, but unfortunately this has now had to be delayed until early 2013.
The newly appointed commanding officer of HMS Monmouth, Commander G. W. Ruddock RN has recently signalled Tenby Unit to advise that the ship's programme has been brought forward and they will soon be sailing to the Indian Ocean to resume anti-piracy patrols. The Tenby Unit send their best wishes to HMS Monmouth's ships company for a happy and successful commission.
