Pembrokeshire County Council has lifted the Notice of Temporary Closure on all mussel and oyster production areas within the Milford Haven Waterway, covering St. Anne's Head to Picton Point.

Additional samples have been collected by the Port Health Team on a weekly basis following closure of the beds on June 30.

Tests carried out on samples collected on July 24 and 31 confirm that levels of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) bio-toxins have returned to safe limits.

The decision to lift the notice of temporary closure was taken following advice received from CEFAS (the Centre for the Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science) in Weymouth, and the Food Standards Agency Wales.

Routine sampling of shellfish will continue in order to monitor levels of bio-toxins in the shellfish stock within the Milford Haven Waterway and Upper Cleddau estuary.
