There were fewer entries at the Sheep sale held at Whitland Mart on Friday, September 19, but quality stock sold to a good level in both the sheep and ram rings.
Rams numbered 48 selling to a top price of £315 for two yearlings from P. Monahan, Stember, Portfield Gate, with other yearling rams selling to £225 from B. Thomas and Son, Carswell, St. Florence, who also sold at £194 and £189. Ram lambs sold to a top of £84 from P. Monahan.
Yearling ewe entries amounting to 393 peaked at £80 from S Evans, Coedhirion, Llanddarog, who also sold at £75. Ewe lambs sold to a top price of £35.50 from S. Marpole, Brynhedydd, Mathry, who also sold at £33 and £31.50.
A total of 128 store lambs made up to £46 from Cole, Rosemary Lane Farm, Lawrenny, with other leading prices at £42 for two lots from Thomas, Chapel Farm, Capel Dewi, and £40.50 from Keeling, Coedycwm, Fishguard.
