The 25th anniversary Castlemartin Range walk/run takes place from Newton Tower, near St. Govan’s, Castlemartin Range, on Sunday, August 21 (writes D.B).

This year, we have a very special guest Shane Williams MBE, Welsh rugby legend, to start and take part in this 25th anniversary sponsored event in aid of the RNLI.

Shane, training for Ironman Wales, will be joined by colleagues from the world of rugby and Pembrokeshire businessmen.

Former Welsh rugby captain and vice-chair of Princes Gate Water Trust, Ryan Jones, and CEO of Welsh Rugby Union, Martyn Williams. They are joined by Pembrokeshire businessmen, David Jones, of Princes Gate Water, running the course as part of his training for Ironman Wales, celebrates 25 years of his company also this year, and County Councillor Mark Edwards, also training for Ironman Wales with Shane and David, completes a very special line up.

The walk site is open from 10 am, for refreshments and for registration for the run/walk and novelty dog show. The dog show starts at 10.30 am sponsored for the fifth year by Burns Pet Food. Walk with your ‘sponsored dog’ on a lead after the dog show!

The walk/run over the four or eight-mile course starts at 12 noon.

Other attractions on the day include the RNLI lifeguards, Stormy Stan, the children’s RNLI Stormforce Club mascot, and the RNLI souvenir stall. If you need RNLI Christmas cards apart from a treat for the children, we have them!

The Angle vintage tractors group, great charity supporters, with their immaculate machines, will be on site. It is thrilling to hear the noise of their engines as they arrive.

We look forward to welcoming you all again this year to meet these great personalities and support our 25th sponsored event. All monies raised at this event go to the RNLI to equip RNLI volunteer crews in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
