Sir,

I am a frequent visitor to Tenby and spent last week there to enjoy the Arts Festival. On Saturday morning, the day of the cycle race, as I walked up St. Julians Street at around 8 am, I witnessed one of your residents walking a dog on her way to Castle Beach. She stood and waited while the dog defecated in the middle of the pavement, made no attempt to move him to the gutter and as she walked off

I asked her whether she was going to clean it up, to which she was extremely dismissive and carried on down to the beach. I noticed that she had been standing immediately adjacent to one of the street signs concerning this very problem.

Since the pavement was already covered in trodden-in dog faeces from the previous day, I can only assume that this is a regular performance.

Shame on Tenby on a day that was going to experience a large number of visitors if their own residents cannot show a pride in their town.

Perhaps Tenby council should consider employing a community warden to patrol the streets dealing with the problems of anti-social behaviour, litter and dog fouling. It would provide a visible deterrent.
