Members of the Pembroke Dock Bicentenary Group were joined by the Royal Naval Association and British Legion, to mark the 175th anniversary of the death of Captain William Pryce Cumby last Thursday.

William Pryce Cumby was Captain Superintendent of Pembroke Dock's Royal Dockyard during 1867, and saw service in Nelson's Navy at the Battle of Trafalgar.

At the the service of remembrance, prayers were led by the Rev. Miles Maylor, and a wreath was laid by the Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Peter Kraus.

Local historian Ted Goddard outlined the life and times of Cumby, and Commander Tony Mason read out Nelson's Prayer before the Battle of Trafalgar.

Captain Cumby's original grave was removed during a clear out of the Park Street Cemetery in the 1970s and it is hoped to replace the current headstone during 2014.
