A simple, but poignant ceremony to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War One was held at Wales' only Military Cemetery at Llanion, Pembroke Dock, on Monday. The event was organised by the Pembroke Dock Bicentenary Group. Officiating was Rev. Nicky Skipworth, while parade marshall was Dai Boswell. Pembroke Borough Silver Band was accompanied by the Posaunenchor Grosseritten Band from Germany, who laid a joint wreath. Troops from Cawdor Barracks also attended as did the Sea Cadets. Rev. Nicky Skipworth said afterwards: "As with any occasion which only takes place following great loss, the service was a mixture of deep thankfulness and profound sadness. For while we commemorate sacrifice, let us also celebrate redemption and the hope of a fresh start every day. My thanks, as ever to parade marshall, David Boswell, Martin Cavaney and those who keep the cemetery so beautifully."
