Sir,
As a local resident, I walk through the Sensory Gardens in Saundersfoot several times a week and it gives me great pleasure from seeing the garden looking so tidy and well cared for - it is obvious that someone takes great pride in keeping them at their best throughout the changing seasons.
I was surprised to read, in the community council article, that dissatisfied comments had been raised, including one about the lack of scented flowers and shrubs there. Surely, at this time of year, the plants are not flowering and therefore not giving off any scent. Even when the season is right for the plants to give off scent, they are in direct competition with exhaust fumes from the adjacent car park and road - beer fumes from the nearby pubs, and coffee and hot-dog smells from the local cafés.
Even in the winter period the garden has been colourful with the start of spring flowers and hyacinths, and to me and a lot of other residents it is a pleasure to have somewhere peaceful to pass through.
I have great praise for Mr. Terry Lewis, who tends the gardens voluntarily and spends a great deal of his time and effort making it such a lovely place to be.
All I want to say is 'Thank you' Mr. Lewis, you are doing a grand job and creating a pleasant attraction for locals and holidaymakers alike.
Mrs. Margaret Harrison,
Saundersfoot.
