After this week's four-club competition, Tenby Seniors, who have been running nearest the pin competitions to raise money for local charities for the blind and partially sighted, made their first donation.

A cheque for £100 was presented to John Webb, who is the chairperson of the Tenby VIP's (Visually Impaired Persons). This will help the readers of Talking Books in costs towards their administration. John Webb is shown left receiving the cheque from Tenby GC Seniors captain Roy Morgan, alongside Stan Hudson far left, treasurer, and Brian Morgan, right, who has organised the weekly nearest pin competitions for the charity.

This week's winner for nearest the pin on the sixth went to Jim Martin, winning a joint of beef kindly donated by local butcher Dai Thomas, of Kilgetty. Many thanks go to Dai for his generosity. Instead of the usual eclectic competition this week, they played a four-club challenge, with many players scratching their heads as to what clubs they should take out. What made it more difficult was that there was a strong breeze blowing into their faces going out and many a player wished they could have changed their selection into the back nine! However, a few of them seemed to cope OK. Leading the field on 32 points was Ron Murphy, in second place came Tony Morris with 31 points and in third place on 29 points was John Cook.

David Lamb was overjoyed when he got a two on the 17th, thinking this would do his eclectic score a lot of good. Sorry David, there was no eclectic this week, but he did win a prize for his efforts; it would have been double the size had Bob Howse not got in the act, scoring a two on the same hole. How unfair of you Bob, taking away David's moment of glory.

Next week will be the last chance to improve those eclectic scores, as it is the final round this winter. This will be followed by a lunch and presentation the following week.
