A shoal of 100 swimmers is being sought to take part in the 2014 Caldey-Tenby swim.
The event - which will take place on Sunday, August 31 - follows on from the success of last year's pioneering swim.
The race is now on for entrants to secure their spot in the charity plunge, as the closing date is April 30.
Swimming between Caldey Island and the mainland is a long-standing tradition in Tenby for individuals and small groups, but 2013 was the first time for the challenge to take place under the umbrella of the Tenby Sea Swimming Association, (TSSA), which has organised the town's legendary Boxing Day Swim for over 40 years.
Sponsored for the second year by Princes Gate Water and Big Brum's, this August's swim will once again be raising money for the RNLI, to whom it contributed over £3,400 last year.
The event saw local triathlete Olly Simon making the crossing of over two miles in 49 minutes to lead the field of 47 entrants.
TSSA chairman Chris Osborne described the swim as 'challenging, but do-able', with the bonus of being located in an area of great beauty and history.
"How many sea swims include a monastic island, an off-shore island with a fort, stunning views of the town, the lifeboat house and, of course, those beaches?" he asked.
Swimmers will leave Caldey Island's Priory Beach, following permission from the Abbot of Caldey, Father Daniel. A fleet of safety craft will accompany them across to Tenby, but only experienced sea swimmers over 18 will be accepted to take part, and must wear wetsuits. The entry fee is £30 to cover insurance and safety costs.
