The second of Tenby Round Table's annual summer spectaculars was hailed as another outstanding success this week

Vast crowds again filled Tenby Harbour and thronged every vantage point around the North Bay to enjoy seven hours of entertainment and help raise thousands of pounds for deserving causes.

Table chairman Chris Evans was delighted with the event's success.

"Over the past couple of years the weather has put a damper on things and we've had to cancel our second spectacular," he explained.

"And I can admit, there were a couple of tense hours early on Sunday morning when the rain was emptying down. However, the skies cleared in plenty of time and we enjoyed another absolutely fantastic day."

Sunday's event kicked off at 3 pm with the ever popular Bradley Bear and Friends music show, courtesy of main sponsors Kiln Park, which enchanted young and old alike, before talented cabaret artiste Adam King had everyone up and dancing.

The fleet-footed Celtic Claddagh Irish Dancers gave another outstanding display to delight the crowds, while Wacky Wayne Wharton's Disco kept the party atmosphere bubbling until early evening when all eyes centred on the North Bay for the launch of the town's Tyne-class lifeboat, the RFA Sir Galahad, for an exciting display of rescue skills involving local RNLI and Coastguard teams.

Attention then turned to the skies as Brian Lecomber dazzled one and all with aerial acrobatics in his Microlease Stunt plane, before the main events stage again became the focus for an evening of superb live music from top bands The Rainkings and Talisman.

The event culminated in a blaze of glory as the skies above the bay were lit up by an awe-inspiring firework display, co-ordinated by Richard and Liz Cameron, of Flameburst FX, of Salisbury.

Throughout the day there were also charity stalls, refreshments, pig roasts, burger stalls, speedboat rides and many other sideshows to entertain one and all throughout the harbour area.

"Everyone got into the party spirit to help us raise a substantial amount of money for charity," said chairman Chris.

"Few people realise the effort that goes into putting on these events and the costs involved. However, it's worth it to see so many people enjoying themselves.

"At the same time they are helping us to help others because every penny of the profit goes to charities and deserving causes."

Chairman Chris said that he was delighted that the events had again run smoothly and extended his sincere thanks to all involved.

"Thanks must go to main sponsors Kiln Park, local businesses for their support and to everyone else involved in any way.

"Also to Pembrokeshire County Council's cleansing department for all their help in clearing up after the event, Serendipity Holdings Ltd. for assistance in counting the money, and to all the people living in the harbour area for their patience and understanding over any disturbance caused.

"Most of all, may I, on behalf of Tenby Round Table, thank everyone who attended both events and contributed so generously to make them such spectacular successes."
