The Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) is holding a Seasonal Open Day on Saturday, December 11, from 11 am - 3 pm at their offices on the High Street. Everyone is welcome, even if you've never heard of PAVS, to go in and have a mince pie and a drink. Age Concern and Pembrokeshire MIND will also be attending to sell Christmas cards and gifts, and to give information about their services. As well as mince pies and last minute Christmas shopping this is an excellent opportunity to come and discover what PAVS offers. Did you know PAVS has over 400 volunteering opportunities? If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, PAVS can give you information and advice. Careers and training guidance is also available. There is a huge variety of opportunities ranging from conservation work, IT and admin, working with children and adults, media and research and retail to mention just a few. You never know it could lead to a new career and you may have fun along the way. This Open Day is also a chance to find out more about the services and support available to carers, if you are one of the 14,000 carers in Pembrokeshire are you aware of the assistance PAVS can give you? Through the Carers Newsletter and invaluable Carers Handbook there is a wealth of support, from information about benefits to details of local support groups. Go along and meet Pembrokeshire Coalition - Opportunities for Disabled people. The coalition has a wide range of information available for people with impairments in the PAVS resource centre (there is wheelchair access). Find out more about the new pilot project 'U Can!' An enabling support scheme offering one to one support for access to services and activities throughout the county. Become a member and receive regular information and discover what's happening around Pembrokeshire. So go along and find out more, you might be surprised at how we can help.
