Children at Stackpole VC School playgroup have certainly embraced the changing seasons by organising an 'Autumn' competition day. Fun-filled activities throughout the term have included art and craft work, cookery, singing, dance and poems.

The three main competitions on the day combined these efforts and included 'Fun with food', designing a seasonal place mat and creating an Autumn card. The on-site playgroup facility has been decorated with children's work, fallen leaves and acorns collected in the surrounding grounds.

"Collecting woodland treasures for this event has literally fallen on the school's doorstepm," said Jess Allen, playgroup co-ordinator. "We are so lucky to have the woodlands within walking distance of the school. A highlight for the children was getting their wellies on and exploring the school's purpose-built garden."

The children dressed up in seasonal wear, practised Autumn words they have been learning in Welsh and enjoyed a healthy harvest snack time.

Stackpole VC School playgroup is open daily to children from the age of two and provides wraparound care and education on the school site. There is also a mother and toddler session held every Thursday afternoon. For more information, please call Stackpole School on 01646 672234.
