Tenby United RFC are already planning for the new rugby season in the national league division 4 west, after the disappointment of relegation last season.

The Seasiders have already strengthened their squad with eight new signings to date. Sion Brace and Darren Rees from Llanelli Under 21s, Paul Luger back from Whitland, alongside forward John Morgan; backrow players, Nick Roach and Anthony Griffiths from Narberth, young loosehead prop Scott Payne from Pembroke and winger Dean Rees from Narberth.

On top of these signings the United also have New Zealand born Gene Hocking, a second row who has represented NZ under 19s and Canterbury Colts.

Also Australian second row Ben Armstrong who has represented Sydney University, joins the club this season.

Training has already begun at Heywood Lane on Tuesday and Thursday with an excellent turnout of up to 30 players involved.

All of last year's squad have remained, with the only exception being Jamie Chandler, due to college commitments.

The club this year will be also running a second XV which will be coached by Nicky Rees, Rob Brown and tri-athlete Mike Evans!

The club are still talking to players who are interested in joining and in particular is looking to strengthen at tight head prop while also bringing in an experienced back.

As part of their pre-season training all players will attend a fitness and skills session on Saturday, August 3 at (10 am) with coaches Gareth Thomas, Kenny Davies, along with Dai Balkwell and Colwyn Harts.

Final pre-season games have been arranged with Pembroke Dock away for 1st XV and 2nd XV on August 17 and Cardigan at home on August 24.
