Nominations are now open to find Wales' inspirational leaders and the people of Pembrokeshire are being urged to nominate someone they know following the success of one local businessman earlier this year.
Tom Price, chairman of Landsker Community Credit Union Ltd., was recognised in terms of his outstanding leadership in the 'voluntary and not for profit organisations with annual income less than £250,000' category for the Leading Wales Awards 2006.
Nominations for 2007 are now open. The Leading Wales Awards this year seek to recognise inspirational leadership at all levels in an organisation across all sectors, including Small and Medium Sized Enterprise, Voluntary Sector and the Public Sector. Recognition is split into seven award categories, including an award for Team Leader and this year a new addition for Young Leader.
"Good leadership is key contributory factor to every successful team, project, business or organisation and recognising and celebrating our inspirational leaders in Wales encourages others, we believe, to develop their own personal leadership skills and achievements. We (the consortium) believe that leadership is highly important and exists at all levels within an organisation. Leadership is not only about the top woman or man," said Barbara Chidgey, spokesperson for the Leading Wales Awards, the consortium of public, private and voluntary sector organisations that developed and organise the awards.
"We all recognise inspirational leaders because they stand out from the crowd and influence other people to bring about change. If you have someone in mind who is a really inspirational leader, in whatever role, we urge you to log onto our website or call our nomination line and we will send you a nomination form. Your nominee could achieve that recognition as one of Wales' inspirational leaders."
Tom Price scooped one of the 2006 awards for setting a tremendous example of how great leadership skills can impact upon an organisation. To nominate someone for a Leading Wales Award 2007, please visit http://www.leadingwalesawards.com">www.leadingwalesawards.com. Nominations close on November 24.
