Mr. Barry John MBE founder of the VC Gallery, was recently presented with three shields he commissioned from Lamphey sculptor Russell Peach who volunteered his services.
Mr. John and his volunteers at the Pembrokeshire charity provide a service supporting all ages, meeting their particular needs.
The VC Gallery based on Pembroke Dock’s Dimond Street and Haverfordwest’s Bridge Street, allows budding artists who need to express themselves to get advice and also display their handiwork at the gallery.
People with disabilities who need someone to discuss their problems with, can also get constructive advice and help from the dedicated volunteers at the galleries.
Mr. John, was recently featured on BBC Three’s ‘Amazing Humans’, a web series looking at inspirational people across the UK and beyond, with the video highlighting the story of how he set up the VC Gallery in 2014 with his army pension
In the video he discusses the importance of art helping visitors to the gallery with mental health and social exclusion issues, and how it can encourage people to open up about their lives.
