AT a recent ceremony held at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel in Narberth, five longserving members of the Pembrokeshire Scout Association were presented with awards for outstanding service. The total service of the five adds up to 201 years.

The Chief Commissioner of Wales presented the awards and paid tribute to all five for their dedication and commitment.

The chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, together with the Mayors of Narberth, Pembroke, Haverfordwest and Pembroke Dock, were present and were thanked by the area commissioner, Mr. Wynford John, for their support to the movement in the county and respective communities.

Among those receiving awards was Mrs. Maureen Crockford, of the 1st Tenby Scout Group, who received the Silver Acorn in recognition of 36 years service.

Silver Acorns were also awarded to Mr. Chris Odling, Cleddau district treasurer, for 39 years service and Mr. Mike Rowe, leader training manager for 26 years service.

Mr. Bob Jarvis, area vice-president received the Silver Wolf for 37 years service, while Mr. Sandy (Skip) Buttle, district president, received the same award for 63 years service.

The Silver Acorn is awarded to a member for more than 20 years of especially distinguished service, while the Silver Wolf, the highest award possible, is the unrestricted gift of the chief scout and is awarded for service of the most exceptional nature.
