MANORBIER 2

Manorbier travelled to Monkton Swifts for a third division cup match.

With a 4-5-1 formation, Manorbier worked hard in midfield, but conceded two early well-taken Monkton goals.

Ricky Rees-Thomas was given a free role and was terrorising the midfield all game, with support form Austyn John and Robbie Thomas.

Another Monkton goal made it 3-0, but the Manorbier spirit remained. Mike Ryder was given an opportunity from a Robbie Thomas decisive pass, which he duly sank into the back of the net, to make it 3-1 at half-time.

With the wind behind them, Ricky Rees Thomas and Austyn John worked hard to put the forwards in. Two glaring opportunities by Jamie Bradfield and James Hall left the whole ground wondering why they never scored.

Another fine Monkton goal was followed by a consolation goal for Manorbier by Jamie Bradfield. Young gun Sam Ormond had a solid game at fullback.

Manorbier played some good football at times, but are not scoring freely at the moment.

They are at home to Merlins Bridge tomorrow (Saturday), with a 2.15 pm kick-off.
