The Sixth Form charity committee at Dyffryn Taf School ran a Valentine fund-raiser on Tuesday in aid of Ty Hafan. In the days before the event, pupils and staff could buy individually wrapped red carnations and 'last Rolos'. The committee also offered a secret delivery service on the 14th where the items ordered could be delivered in secret to others in the school. The scheme was a huge success, with numerous staff and pupils sending and receiving gifts. "We chose to do this scheme as we felt it would be a good way to make people's Valentine's Day and also a good fun way to raise money for a worthwhile charity," said Anna Young and Kirsty Edmunds, members of the charity committee. The charity committee would like to that thank headteacher, Mr. Newsome, for being so enthusiastic in supporting the scheme and also coming up with the 'last Rolo' idea! Also a big thanks to Jess Vaughan, chairperson of the committee, for being a great leader and keeping all members of the committee organised throughout the scheme The group hope to raise over £200 for Ty Hafan and also spread some love amongst the staff and pupils at Dyffryn Taf School. The committee will also donate the remaining flowers to local residential homes, Dol-y-Felin and Sunnybank.
