Work began last week during the half-term break on improvements in the vicinity of Manorbier Church in Wales VC School The work is being carried out under Pembrokeshire County Council's Safe Routes to School Initiative and involves the provision of new footways to the school, street lighting, signage and road markings. Hedgerows will need to be realigned and consultations have been undertaken with landowners and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. Phase 1 of the works are concentrated in front of the school and were started last week to ensure that major excavations were carried out during the half-term period to minimise disruption. Evan Prichard (Contractors) Ltd. are undertaking the works and will be completing the first phase during the next two to three weeks. Phase 2 involves the provision of a footway to the north of the school and should commence as soon as necessary land deals are completed. Efforts will be made to restrict disruption to a minimum while the work is going on. The project is being funded with an £80,000 Transport Grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.
