On Friday afternoon, St. Oswald's VA School held their annual Harvest Festival in Jeffreyston Church, led by the Rector, Fr. Paul, being assisted by the headmistress, Mrs. M. Brown, and her dedicated staff. The church was nearly full with well-behaved pupils, together with their families, friends and some members of the regular church congregation. After Fr. Paul had welcomed everyone, they sang 'Lord of the Harvest', after which classes 4 and 3, then 2 and 1 sang harvest songs, including one in Welsh. They sang 'Pears and Apples' and 'I have seen the Golden Sunshine' in between the classes singing. The school choir then sang 'Thank you Lord', after which Fr. Paul gave a short address. This was a thoughtful story about Rosa and the tomato seed being helped with finance from Christian Aid. Five pupils then came to the front of the church to read the prayers, while during the singing of 'Colours of the Day', a collection was taken up on behalf of the Noah's Ark Appeal. Fr. Paul thanked everyone for attending and for the excellent performances given by the children.
