Clr. Paul Rapi indicated that he would be interested in the role at a previous meeting of the town council, after councillors were informed that Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane's term of office in the position at the school, was due to come to an end in November.
However, speaking at Tuesday night's meeting, Clr. Rapi said that he would have to turn down putting his name forward for the vacancy, as the meetings at the junior school would be held at a time when he still had commitments to his teaching job at Greenhill School and he would be unable to attend.
