Pembrokeshire County Schools Under 11s recently held their annual Presentation Night at Heatherton Park, St Florence, thanks to the generosity of owner, Mr. Charles Davies. The squad were able to show their skills in other activities such as go-karting, baseball, archery and boating, before the formal presentation took place, followed by food for all the players. The boys who played in the Welsh Schools' Finals received certificates and medals, while all squad members received personalised boot bags, kindly donated by the sponsors. Schools' FA chairman Frank Bryce praised the efforts of Angela Nicholls, schools' secretary, both in entering the team and organising the coaching staff of herself, Mark Hicks and Bernard Steer, to prepare the squad for what turned out to be a highly successful campaign in the Welsh Schools competition. The enthusiasm and skill of the players to compete nationally at this level of football, was rewarded by the fact that Pembrokeshire were only narrowly shaded out of the final by conceding more corners than their opponents, Wrexham, who went on to eventually win the competition at Aberdare. The all round support of the parents was also crucial to make this happen. Frank Bryce warmly thanked the sponsors, several who were present, for their backing, and said he hoped that this could continue to enable more Pembrokeshire players to represent their county at this level and perhaps by the inclusion of other age groups. Trials for next seasons Under 11s squad are soon to be arranged and the details publicised shortly. Sponsors: Western Power, Jago of Tenby, Wimpy, Park Road Fish and Chip Shop- Tenby, Heatherton, Co-op Ltd, Small Moves - Fishguard, Tescos, Merlin's Bridge Newsagents, Snowdrop Bar and Function Room - Haverfordwest. A special thank you goes to Lyn Thomas, of Swansea Football Club, for donating a signed football for auction on the night.
