County Councillor Wynne Evans has been dealing with concerns about the local authority's future provision for road crossing patrol officers ('lollipop ladies') at the new primary school site in Jesse Road when it opens in September next year. "I have taken this matter directly to County Hall," said Clr. Evans. "Any speculation is very premature indeed, and a detailed provision of needs will be undertaken by safety officers early in 2008," he continued. "Safe routes to school is a priority and it may be the case that one lollipop person is at the school site, with another located at road crossing point in the town itself. "I clearly see a need for two officers, and will respond when the road safety assesment is produced."
