Local have been turning their paintbrushes to charity this winter in a competition to design a new Christmas card for Wales Air Ambulance.

Golden Grove Community, Pembroke Dock Community and Pennar Community are just some of the schools in the region to take up the challenge, which will see three children snap up a host of prizes including a special visit from James Hook.

Schools and youth groups across Wales are invited to help design the next range of festive cards for 2009, by showing the red helicopters in their local community at Christmas.

The Christmas card catalogue from Wales Air Ambulance is an enormous source of income for the all-Wales charity and a great way to support the life-saving service.

The winners will see their design printed in the Wales Air Ambulance Christmas card collection next year, along with a VIP visit to their regional airbase and a limited edition model helicopter.

Welsh Rugby International James Hook, who is backing the competition, will visit the winners' schools to meet the pupils and present the awards.

For more information on the competition, contact fund-raising manager Rhodri Davies on 0844 85 84 999. The categories for entries are: five-eight years, nine-12 years and 13-16 years. Closing date is February 9.
