Last Thursday brought another glorious day, as eight Nordic Walkers headed for Marloes Sands car park for a favourite, very scenic walk.

They headed north to pick up the Coast Path, but soon realised that the wind was from that direction and very strong and cold. It was a real pleasure to turn west towards Martin’s Haven. From there they headed south on the Coast Path back towards Marloes Sands. They saw plenty of unseasonably early spring flowers including Thrift, Sea Campion and Bluebells, no doubt all brought on by the recent sunshine. The coastal views on this stretch of the Coast Path are second to none, with all the offshore islands. The group turned off the path to head for Runwayskiln, to finish the outing with a very enjoyable, if slightly late lunch.

On Saturday the promised cooler, more unsettled weather had arrived. With intermittent showers, some of them wintry, a smaller than usual group of 20 hardy walkers started from Penally Station. Pat, backed by Chris, led the Speedies up to the top of Giltar Head. Leighton, supported by Paul, led the Steadies directly onto the beach. As the Steadies set off for Tenby, the Speedies did a circuit of Giltar before heading for the town. Barbara led a small Steadies-2 group on a short walk around the seaward edges of the town. The showers were fairly frequent, but with little wind they weren’t too bothersome. All the groups ended up in the centre of the town, where they dispersed in search of favourite cafes for refreshments or lunch.
