Tenby Round Table chairman, Andrew Davies and his fellow Tablers are keeping fingers crossed that there will be clear skies for the first of their ever- popular Summer Spectaculars on Tenby Harbour next weekend. Always one of the major highlights of the Tenby summer scene, chairman Andrew and his team promise a programme packed full of fun for all the family, including live shows, displays by Tenby coastguard and Tenby RNLI, death-defying aerial aerobatics above the natural amphitheatre of North Bay generously sponsored by Greens Motors, of Haverfordwest, live bands and the traditional climax of the event, a spectacular firework display. The events run from 3 pm when Mayor of Tenby, Clr. John Griffiths, will officially open proceedings with a packed programme, including the zany antics of Folly Farm's resident crazy clown Chunkie Russell, local DJ 'Wacky' Wayne Wharton, who is guaranteed to keep the party atmosphere bouncing, and not one, but two fleet-footed displays of dancing from Pembrokeshire County Dance School and the Hynes School of Irish Dancing. Tenby coastguard will be putting on an impressive display of their rescue skills, while Tenby's lifeboat, the Haydn Miller, will also be making a splash at the event. All eyes will turn to the skies at around 6 pm with the ever-popular air display, which sees all manner of death-defying aerobatics above the natural amphitheatre of North Bay. The fun continues with no fewer than three live bands, including Gary Gary and The Informers, who will keep the party atmosphere throbbing until the traditional climax of the event, a spectacular fireworks display. In addition to all the live entertainment, there will also plenty to see and do for all the family, including side shows and stalls managed by local charities, bouncy castles, face painting courtesy of Heatherton, refreshments, including pig roasts, burger stalls and a licensed bar, and much, much more. The event on July 22, and the second spectacular on August 5 are Tenby Round Table's main fund- raisers for the year, with all money raised being donated to local charities and organisations for the benefit of the local community. Any local charities that wish to join in the fun and raise funds for themselves by having their own stalls at the event, but have not yet done so, are asked to contact Tabler Kevin Taylor, on 07866538045, for further information. "My fellow Tablers and all our volunteers work tremendously hard, both in the build-up to, and during, the event, and, thanks to everyone involved, and everyone in and around the harbour who allow us to stage the events, a lot of local charities and organisations have benefited over the years," said Andrew. "May I, in advance, thank everyone involved, particularly all our sponsors, for their support, and everyone in and around the harbour for their tolerance in allowing us to stage the events once again," Andrew continued. 'There will be plenty of all the usual fun and entertainment going on throughout the day, just come along, join in and help us make this another bumper year for a lot of worthy charities," he added.
