Sir,
Unfortunately, Tenby Round Table had to take the difficult decision to cancel the first of our two Kiln Park sponsored Parties by the Beach two weeks ago.
While we realise that the decision would have disappointed a great many people, the weather conditions on the day, with heavy rain and high winds forecast, made the event untenable.
However, we're hoping for better conditions this Sunday for the second event and we've planned a packed programme of fun for all the family including rescue displays, magic, dance performances, street entertainment, live bands and a spectacular firework display.
The event will kick-off at just before 3 pm with a samba band, stilt walkers and jugglers processing through the town to Tenby Harbour and the official opening by Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.
The Chevron sponsored stage will thrill to a variety of live acts, including Story with Rory and Summer High, generously provided by main sponsors Kiln Park; Irish dancers and a karate display while local DJ 'Wacky' Wayne Wharton will keep the party atmosphere bouncing throughout the afternoon. Tenby's auxiliary coastguard will show off their cliff rescue skills, while Tenby lifeboat, the Haydn Miller, will also be making a splash at the event.
The fun continues with live performances from local bands Ella Guru, Soundscape and Deep Joy until the traditional climax of the event, a spectacular firework display at around 10 pm.
In addition to all the live entertainment, there will also plenty to see and do for all the family, including side shows and stalls managed by local charities, bouncy castles, surf board rides, Gladiator contests, face painting courtesy of Heatherton, refreshments, including pig roasts, burger stalls, crepes, Welsh cakes hot off the griddle, a licensed bar, and much, much more.
The event will be Tenby Round Table's main fund-raiser for the year with all money raised being donated to local charities and organisations for the benefit of the local community and thanks to everyone involved, and everyone in and around the harbour who allow us to stage the events, a lot of local charities and organisations have benefited over the years.
May I, in advance, thank everyone involved, particularly all our sponsors, for their support, and everyone in and around the harbour for their tolerance in allowing us to stage the events once again.
There will be plenty of fun and entertainment going on throughout the day, just come along, join in and help us make this another bumper year for a lot of worthy causes.
Dave Booton,
Chairman 2009/10,
Tenby Round Table No. 467.
